The eating place 246Café where diners pay what they can

The Eating Place in Coventry doesn’t have prices on its menu. Coventry City Mission began the scheme in their café as a pilot project about a year ago to help people suffering from loneliness or poverty. It has recently expanded it to 3 days a week, 9am - 2pm.

Customers can have breakfast from 9am-12pm and lunch 12pm-2pm, Tuesdays-Thursdays.

It is run as a pay-what-you-can café and customers have three choices:

  • If your pockets are full, pay a bit more.
  • If your pockets are light, pay what you can.
  • If your pockets are empty, pay nothing and enjoy your meal on them!

They find that there are as many people donating more for their meal as there are who pay nothing.

This is just one of the many ways they aim to show their customers the love of Jesus.
