SE 246Changing the World, A Young Person's Guide to Social Entrepreneurship

From a publication by UnLtd.

UnLtd have published a guide covering the stages involved in setting up a social venture. Comprising of six sections, the guide focuses on the person behind the project, and this is a continuing thread throughout its pages spending a lot of time exploring an individual’s identity, motivation, uniqueness and what matters to them most.

Although labeled for young people, it can really be used by any beginner with an idea who wants to make the world better.

The sections in the guide need to be completed honestly - it is designed to stretch your imagination when it comes to exploring ideas. It is important to immerse yourself in the defined activities to expand your thinking no matter how ridiculous or random they may seem. The activities in the guide are designed to stimulate creative thinking, help you see patterns where there is chaos and to be an even better problem solver.

The guide is made up of different sections focusing on different aspects of setting up a social venture. You can work through it in order or pick and choose which section appeals as most helpful. You are encouraged to write down ideas, to-do lists, doodles and reflections throughout the guide to capture your thinking along the way.

Toward the end of the guide there are more practical tools and templates that will provide structure to the planning process.

It is not a manual on social enterprise nor is it designed to tell you what to do. Rather it is a resource full of information, activities, exercise and templates that UnLtd has gathered over the last 10 years working with young social entrepreneurs and is shared with you in the hope it will support your journey in setting up a social venture.
