Emotions and behaviours
From an animation by Emerging Minds
As most of us know, good mental health is about more than just being ‘happy’. For children, it’s about feeling safe to freely express their emotions and having trusted adults there to support them through the tricky times.
Emerging Minds have created a 90 second animation to help parents and families understand the connections between children’s emotions and behaviours. In this animation, a child, Emm, shares some key things every adult should know about children’s emotions and behaviours and the best ways to support them.
Since children aren’t always able to easily communicate how they’re feeling, it can be helpful for parents to connect with their children on the thoughts and emotions that may influence their behaviours. In doing this, parents can provide an empathetic, judgement-free environment in which their children can thrive.
Use this video to open the door to collaborative and respectful conversations with parents and families that help them better understand and support their children’s mental health.
